Samaritan's Purse

on 8/29/2009

Samaritan's Purse International Relief is a nondenominational evangelical organization of Christian Gospel sharing and assistance to those in need worldwide.  Currently headed by Franklin Graham, son of renowned evangelist Billy Graham, this ministry truly brings the love of Christ to the world.

Samaritan's Purse not only distributes Bibles, food, and basic necessities, it also helps establish and strengthen communities through its development programs.  They are giving fishing boats and equipment to help fishermen in Bolivia.  They build schools and help develop farms in other countries.  They even build churches in Sudan and elsewhere.  They do all this and more to practically reach the people and share the love of Jesus Christ with them.

EFG firmly believes in education and the old saying, "if you give a man a fish he will eat for a day, but if you teach a man to fish he will eat for the rest of his life."  The Scriptural remedy for poverty is hearing the Gospel (Matthew 11:5 and Luke 4:18).  Samaritan's purse takes the first step by preaching the Gospel to the poor.  It then goes above and beyond by teaching them trades and starting their projects.  Glory to God.

I once heard Bishop Wellington Boone say the Body of Christ must move from a consumer mentality to a producer mentality.   Programs like these are enlarging and empowering the Body of Christ.  To learn more or get involved, visit the website for Samaritan's Purse.

Hand of Hope

on 8/27/2009

Hand of Hope is the international ministry/outreach arm of Joyce Meyer Ministries.

EFG greatly admires Joyce Meyer and all of her ministry's works.  But last November at a conference in Tampa, FL, Byron and Shannon really learned about all of Joyce's international efforts.  They immediately decided to partner with Joyce Meyer Ministries, and they have been exceedingly blessed in doing so.  EFG wants to see all the nations reached with the salvation and loving power of Jesus Christ.  Hand of Hope does just that.  Hand of Hope currently has many programs, and we will share a few of them here.
  • They feed thousands with both Spiritual food and natural food in many countries, including Ethiopia, Mexico, South Africa, and India.
  • They see God heal the sick through the preaching of faith, the laying on of hands, and practical, natural medicine.  They have medical outreaches in places such as Cambodia, Haiti, India, Africa, and South America.
  • They bless and protect God's precious children, victims and refugees through their homes and programs in places like Uganda, Thailand and Peru.
  • They also do many of these same works here in the USA, blessing those in need right here at home.  I once heard Dr. Creflo Dollar say, "you want God to send you to the nations, but God can't send you to Kroger (local food mart)."  We must be sensitive to the ministry opportunities right here at home, as is Joyce Meyer Ministries.
  • Also Joyce Meyer Ministries partners with many local ministries when doing these great works abroad.  They truly have a unity spirit when it comes to the Body of Christ.  These joint efforts are working to create the unified - worldwide Church that EFG believes God desires.
They do all of this and more in the name of Jesus Christ.  Joyce Meyer Ministries is undoubtedly doing great exploits for God.  We have been given so much, we must give back.  These outreach programs stir our faith and exhort us to do more.  We hope they do the same for you.  Check out the awesome and jam packed websites for Joyce Meyer Ministries and Hand of Hope to learn more or get involved.

Our Beliefs

on 8/25/2009

Please find in this post our beliefs on the following subjects
1) Christianity in General
2) Salvation
3) Holiness

Our Beliefs on Christianity in General -

We believe Christianity is the only religion which provides mankind with full access to God. The Judeo-Christian God is the only living God.  All other God's are idols.  God originally established Judaism with Abraham the Hebrew and his descendants. Eventually God blessed all people of the earth through Abraham's seed, Jesus Christ. When a person accepts Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior they are born again. This means that the person's spirit is now born of God, and they literally are born again into God's family. As born-again Christians we are the sons and daughters of God. God loves all people, but Jesus only gives His believers the power to become the children of God. Only Christians have full access to the Spirit of God, which lives in them along with their reborn spirit. No man comes to God but by Jesus.

Scripture references in order of appearance in the paragraph above - John 14:6, Isaiah 45:5, Psalm 96:5, Beginning in Genesis 12, Genesis 26:4 and Galatians 3:8, John 3 and 1 John 5:1, 1 John 3:9, Romans 8:14-17, John 3:16, John 1:12, John 14:16 and Romans 8:16, John 14:6.

Our Beliefs on Salvation -

We believe that all people will spend eternity with either God or the devil. All people are born in sin because of the sin of the first human, Adam. Regardless of that fact, no person has lived without once lying, stealing, hating, or breaking another one of God's laws.  We should all die and spend eternity in hell, because the wages of sin is death. But God so loved the world, that He put Himself in human form in His Son Jesus Christ, and He came to Earth. Jesus lived the only life in history that conformed perfectly to God's laws. He then went to the cross and allowed Himself to be murdered unjustly. But this was all part of God's plan. Jesus knew He had to die so that He could sacrifice Himself for our sins.  Jesus took our sin and gave us His righteousness, to save us from our sins. After His physical death He went to hell and took the keys to hell and death. God then raised Him from the dead. He returned to earth for a while, and now He sits on the right hand of God, ever living to work for our behalf. If one confesses with their mouth that Jesus is their Lord, and believes in their heart that God raised Him from the dead, then that person receives salvation. That person receives righteousness and that person will spend eternity in paradise with God.

Scripture references in order of appearance in the paragraph above - Revelation 21 and 22, Romans 5:12, Romans 3:10, Romans 6:23, John 3:16 and 2 Corinthians 5:19, 2 Corinthians 5:21, John 10:18, Revelation 13:8, Hebrews 10:12-14, 2 Corinthians 5:21, Revelation 1:18, Luke 24 and John 20, Hebrews 7:25, Romans 10:9,10, Revelation 21 and 22.

Our Beliefs on Holiness -

We believe that without holiness no man shall see God. The Hebrews were given laws by God that governed most aspects of their lives. No man but Jesus perfectly obeyed all these laws. Those who accept Jesus not only receive salvation, but also divine ability to live and abide perfectly by the laws of God. The Holy Spirit empowers Christians to fulfill all the commandments of God. We are now empowered to be Holy as our Father in Heaven is Holy. We believe holiness means having one's heart and actions in line with God's will.  God gives us His Word so that we can know His will and His commandments.  God gives us His Spirit which empowers us to understand His Word and hear His voice.  God pours His love into our hearts, for all the commandments of God really involve love, both for God and mankind.  God gives us everything we need to live holy and without blame before Him.  Jesus said that those who love Him keep His commandments.  All who truly love God will do what He says and live Holy before Him.  Anything that transgresses God's laws is sin.  All sin is wrong.  We are empowered to live without sin.  This should be our goal.

Scripture references in order of appearance in the paragraph above - Hebrews 12:14, See Deuteronomy, 2 Corinthians 5:21 and 1 John 3:4, Romans 8:1-4, Joshua 1:8 and Isaiah 55:11, John 14 and 16, Romans 5:5, Matthew 22:37-40, John 14:21, 1 John 3:4, Romans 8:1-4.

Shoes for Orphans

on 8/23/2009

Here in the Central Florida area we are blessed to have a wonderful radio station, The Joy FM.  One of the hosts of the morning show, Carmen Brown, is collecting shoes for orphans in Peru.  Her goal is 10,000 pairs, so that will take many of us donating to help her.

What a wonderful, practical expression of God's love.  It's hard for many Americans to understand the worldwide need for basic necessities such as shoes.  Most people in Zimbabwe currently live in terrible poverty.  While Byron and Shannon were there they purchased inexpensive sandals they could get wet in while visiting Victoria Falls.  After the tour ended, they passed a young girl leading an elderly blind man down the street.  Shannon asked the driver to pull over and she gave the girl her sandals.  I wish I had a picture of the girl's face.  She looked like someone had handed her a stack of money.  She smiled and waved until we were out of site.  Byron then gave his sandals to their driver, who was also very grateful.

We can't all go to foreign lands and personally hand gifts to the impoverished.  But your reward in Heaven is the same if you get involved and do your part to bless people.  EFG is always looking for anointed projects that show the love of God to the world.  We encourage you to get involved and bless God's Peruvian children with some shoes.  You can find more information by clicking this link.

Visit The JOY FM on the radio or online for listening and other information about their awesome radio station.  Carmen does this jointly with Buckner International, whose largest humanitarian project is this shoe collection and donation program, called Shoes for Orphans Souls.

About Byron Howell Ministries, Inc.

Byron Howell Ministries is a ministry about honoring God and encouraging Christians to do great works for God and His people.  God still uses people to do awesome works in the world today.  The ministry of Jesus lives on through His Body, the collection of Christians.

The Bible tells us to rise and shine, for our light has come, and the glory of the Lord is risen upon us.  (Isa 60:1).  We know that many Christians do wonderful works all over the earth.  But we also know that many Christians do nothing.  Sadly, we have been there, knowing we should do something yet doing nothing.  Well, no more!  We are going to do the good works God has before ordained that we should walk in, and we are going to encourage others to do the same.  We believe that a person truly begins to live the abundant life God has for them when that Christian begins truly living God's will for his or her life.

We believe The Holy Bible to be the Divinely inspired and written Word of God. Biblical study and meditation is the key to holy and successful living. We will endeavor to help Christians in their Bible study by providing links to helpful sights which honor God and promote Biblical wisdom. Other links will direct visitors to anointed ministries with various focuses. In these last days God has called and anointed many leaders. The book of Ephesians says God provides ministry gifts that will edify and promote the Body.We want to help spread the word about them. Lastly some links will direct Christians to other Christian materials and resources of all types. We believe Christianity is for every part of life. Christians worldwide are taking Godliness and Biblical Principals into every business and endeavor under the sun.

Byron grew up in Tampa, Florida.  Byron first asked Jesus into his heart in the third grade.  During his early childhood he attended Faith Covenant Fellowship, pastored by Reverend George Brooks, with his parents.  There he received the Baptism of the Holy Spirits.  While he attended a Catholic high school, Byron and his family began attending The River at Tampa Bay, pastored by Dr. Rodney Howard-Browne.  There Byron was truly introduced to the Global Body of Christ and the idea of flowing with the Holy Spirit.

Shannon grew up in Orlando, Florida. During her youth her family regularly attended a Methodist church.  Shannon received Jesus as her Lord and Savior at a Fellowship of Christian Athletes meeting.

Byron and Shannon met through mutual friends while attending the University of Florida.  During the Spring of 2013 they began attending Victory Church pastored by Pastor Bill Deconna.  There they began worshiping the Lord together.

After college Byron and Shannon moved to Atlanta where they attended World Changers Church International, pastored by Dr. Creflo A. Dollar.  While Byron and Shannon loved God when they first walked onto the WCCI campus, it was there they truly began to understand what serving Him meant.  Dr. Dollar taught them about the integrity of God's Word, holiness, authority, power, prosperity, and many other Godly topics.  They completed the New Member classes there and were baptized again in The WCCI Chapel.  At WCCI Shannon first received the Baptism of the Holy Spirit.  Dr. Dollar also introduced them to the teachings of many other anointed teachers, such as Kenneth Copeland, Gregory Dickow, Jimmy Evans, Bill Winston, and more.

After Byron finished law school in Atlanta they were married and moved to Tampa.  There they began attending, Covenant Christian Center of Tampa, pastored by Byron's father, Kevin Howell.  After several years God instructed Byron and Shannon to join Grace Family Church, also in Tampa.

Today Byron and Shannon are very blessed to have Grace Family Church as their home church and also to be involved in ministry there.  Byron teaches the Wednesday Night Bible Study alongside Coach Tony Dungy, and Shannon helps in the women's ministry, Beautiful.

God has blessed Byron and Shannon with travels around the world.  Besides their honeymoon in Tahiti and trips to Western Europe and Australia, God sent them to Africa twice.  There they have visited South Africa, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Kenya and Egypt.  Through all these travels God further introduced Byron and Shannon to the global Body of Christ.  They are learning about the importance of global Bodily unity, and the different manifestations of God's glory worldwide.  God is also showing them the different oppositions to Christianity that must be overcome.

They are also heavily involved with Schools for Haiti, a ministry which currently operates five Christian schools in Haiti for over 1,000 children.  Byron has also begun preaching at revival meetings in Haiti.

Byron and Shannon know that Jesus is the only Name by which man can be saved.  They desire to see all people come to the saving knowledge which is in Jesus Christ.  They also believe that Christians are God's children, and that God wants the best for His children.  They believe God has provided for them, through Jesus, healing, prosperity, power, love, and all good things.  The believe that no good thing will God withhold from them who walk uprightly.  Byron and Shannon believe God for the salvation of all people, and that all people can experience God's goodness in every way.

Post Commenting

At this time we will allow commenting on certain posts, particularly the posts describing various exploits for God.  We desire to communicate with Christians the wonderful works of God.  This website is a faith and joy building platform, designed as a place for Christians to encourage one another in The Faith.  All posts, and therefore all of your comments, should be made with the following verse in mind - "Whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of a good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things."  Philippians 4:8

We believe in Christian unity.  We have no denominational affiliation.   Christians should be known by the love they show one another.  Modern Christianity exhibits far too little love.  This ministry is love centered.  The members and partners of this ministry are going to show love for Christians and non-Christians alike.  Every post and comment must be love founded, centered, and directed.

Currently we allow anonymous commenting and endeavor to make commenting as open and unrestricted as possible.  Links in your comments are fine.  They should be related, but as long as they are positive and in keeping with traditional Christian values, they'll be left alone.  Please have links open in a new tab or window whenever possible.  All comments are DoFollow.

Brothers and sisters, let's focus on the positive.  Give glory to God by adding your praise as a comment to someone else's miracle.  Tell us about the wonderful things God does in your life and area.  Let us begin a new fellowship, devoted to Christian love and unity.  "[Let us endeavor] to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.  There is one Body, and one Spirit, even as you are called in one hope of your calling; one Lord, one Faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all."  Ephesians 3:3-6.
